The story is told of the world-renowned artist, LEONARDO De VINCI, who had just completed his masterpiece, The Lord's Supper. He was so pleased with his work that he invited another artist to come to his studio and view his painting. The guest artist arrived and at viewing the painting, was almost speechless, then exclaimed to de Vinci, You have painted the communion cup with exquisite beauty. It is the most beautiful thing in the whole picture. When de Vinci heard the remark, he immediately took the brush and painted over the communion cup. As the guest artist watched in shock and horror, de Vinci said, I don't want anything to take away from the beauty of my Lord which is the reason for the painting. That is exactly what Jesus was teaching us in His statement, seek ye first the kingdom of God. (Matthew 6:33). In all we do, like de Vinci, we must make Jesus the center of our life. Jesus must always be first!
