- Scripture: I Peter 3:15

“Be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:” Read and study your Bible daily, so that you can be prepared anytime to give an answer for the Lord.
The other day I read about a poor, little witness shivering and shaking as he faced the judge and jury. He was scared half to death and everyone could see it. No hiding it, believe me. Then comes the high-powered lawyer, glared at the witness and asked him “Tell me, did you see the accident?” “Yes sir, I did sir.” He answered. Then glaring at the witness demanded, “And how far away were you?” “Twenty-two feet and two inches” he replied. Now the lawyer had him, “How can you be so specific?” came the next question. “Well, I knew some lawyer would ask me that, he said, so I measured it.” WOW. He settled the boisterous lawyer, no question about it. It got me to thinking, some skeptic someplace, sometime is going to put the Christian on the witness stand and question him about his faith in Jesus. The apostle warns us of that in I Peter 3:15, “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.” Let’s all of us be like the timid little witness and have our case ready before we get on the stand. Then we can put to naught the toughest critic.
