Philippians 2:5
The other day I noticed a little quip that caught my mind good and proper. It simply said, “The more I get to know people, the more I love my dog?”
WOW! I must confess. That hit home with me, got my attention, made me think!
I remember out on the farm, 95 years ago, we always had a dog. A boy and his dog—a perfect combination. I would take my dog over some people without hesitation. About that time the Holy Spirit got to working in my soul, and I knew I was dead wrong. I have to love everybody. I have to love my neighbor as myself. Good grief. So how do I change my attitude, my mind on this matter? The answer is easy, I just need to have the mind of Christ, and the dog will take second place every time. The Apostle Paul put it this way, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 2:5.)
If I have the mind and heart of Jesus then all these ‘hard to love people’ will take on a total different look. I can love them, and also my dog!
