WANTED: FANATICS!
It's Christmas time in the Peanuts cartoon strip. Lucy approaches Charlie Brown with this suggestion. Merry Christmas. Since it's this time of year, I think we ought to bury past differences and try to be kind. Charlie Brown says, Why does it just have to be this time of the year? Why can't it be all year long? Lucy looks at him and says, What are you, some kind of fanatic?
I thought to myself would to God we had more fanatics like Charlie Brown!
And why not? What better time than Christmas to show love and forgiveness. Love can smooth out a lot of rough spots; can make life worth living. And do you know what? That love we share will last forever. St. Paul tells us now abideth faith, hope, love: but the greatest of these is love. (I Corinthians 13:13). But where do we get all this love? Easy. God is love when He comes to dwell within our heart through Jesus Christ; and then lo and behold, a loving fanatic is born!
