"A New Song" MAY 2016
Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:
Did you ever stop to think of all the wonderful things God has provided for us to make life happy, meaningful, and worth living! Let me give you eight reasons from Philippians Chapter four that makes life happy and helps us through troubled times.
- WE HAVE THE JOY OF THE LORD TO LIFT US
“Rejoice in the Lord always; and again I say, Rejoice.” (vs. 4) So God commands us to rejoice. St. Paul tells us how we can do that, even though the world seems to be going to the dogs. He says, “Rejoice in the Lord.” When we love Jesus and lean upon Him, we know that He will work all things out for good. (Romans 8:28) We can always rejoice because we have Jesus! - WE HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF PRAYER TO SUPPORT US
“Be anxious for nothing.” (vs. 6) That is, don’t worry and fret. For one thing, you can’t change anything anyway so relax; tell it to Jesus and leave things in His hands. He has all power; He can handle it! - WE HAVE THE PEACE OF GOD TO KEEP US
“And the peace of God….shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (vs.7) You know what? When we are not at peace with God, we are at war with everybody around us! Such people ought to be quarantined. Confess your sins to Jesus, lean upon Him, and the God of peace will bring peace into your heart. It never fails. (John 14:27). - WE HAVE THE PRESENCE OF GOD TO ACCOMPANY US
Someday if the Lord tarries, I am going to die. They are going to bury my body. My spirit and soul will go immediately to be with Jesus, but my body will be buried out there in the cemetery. But because Jesus’ body was raised from the grave, so shall my body and the bodies of all my loved ones in Christ be raised. The same mighty power of God that raised Jesus is going to raise up my body also! I look forward to that great resurrection day. (Thess. 4:14; II Cor. 4:14); (II Col. 5:17). - WE HAVE THE PATTERN OF OTHERS BEFORE US
“Your care of me hath flourished again.” (vs.10) God brings others into our life to help and encourage us, even as we encourage others. Be friendly to all those about you; be an example of how Jesus would act, and thank God for all those who have gone before us who loved Jesus. (Heb. 12:1) - WE HAVE THE POLICY OF CONTENTMENT TO CALM US
“I have learned in whatever state I am, therewith to be content.” (vs. 11) Be content with what we have. Don’t be like the rich; they are always trying to get more and more. (James 4:1-3). If we have Christ, we have all we need, so like the young people say, “cool it.” (Col. 3:11).
WE HAVE THE POWER OF CHRIST TO STRENGTHEN US
“I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me.” (vs. 13) Be careful; we can’t claim this promise and then try to fly to the moon. The secret is I can do all things through Christ if it is in the will of God! So let’s be sure we know His will; and then when we do, move on even if it means moving a mountain! (Heb.11:3)
WE HAVE THE PROMISE OF GOD TO PROVIDE FOR US
“My God shall supply all your need.” (vs. 19) Watch out. God isn’t telling us He will supply every want we have because many times we want things we don’t need! If my little grandson wants to play with my razor, he has a want but not a need. So we learn to leave things in God’s hands and pray, “Thy will be done.” (Matt. 6:10; Eph. 1:18)
So if the times are hard, take heart; lean on Jesus because He cares for you! (I Peter 5:7). Then drink deeply from His promises. And when you have done that, please pray for the Christian Worship Hour, and give as God leads. He will work everything out. God bless you. My love and prayers.
In our Savior’s Love,
Harold E. Salem, Pastor
Watching the Christian Worship Hour every week is a blessing! Hearing the Word of God is so refreshing in this day and age when so many are perverting God’s precious Words. Everything about the service is uplifting. All the times I have seen your service, very few times have you smiled. Your face lights up when you smile. Could you smile a bit more? I will watch for more smiles.
HYDE PARK, NEW YORK
Just a short note to thank you for all your gospel preaching sermons. You folks are always in our prayers. We enjoy the singing and your sermons so much and they are from the Bible and true! Please remember me in your prayers. I was in the hospital for a week and they said I have throat cancer. I’m trusting in God for healing and I’m not taking any of the chemo or radiation. This might be this ole cowboys’ last ride but I’ll stay for the 8 seconds! HA! I know God can heal. He is the Great Physician. Praise the Lord! Love in Jesus Name. Your ole cowboy friend.
OLIVET, SOUTH DAKOTA
Just wanted to let you know that I enjoy your sermons. I have lived as a hermit on monastery grounds for 23 years now, but 20 surgeries keeps me home bound so you are my church service. I connected to Catholicism at age 16, but God is found everywhere so your “take” on the Holy Mystery is no problem for me—it is a joy.
SAINT DAVID, ARIZONA
I have been a quadriplegic since 1970, due to a motorcycle accident caused by a hit-and-run drunk driver. Although I lost the use of my arms and legs, I truly believe that I gained a great deal more when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord on St. Patrick’s Day, 38 years ago!
ROGERS, MINNESOTA
Yesterday, God helped me—-Today, He’ll do the same—–How long will this continue—-Forever, Praise His Name.
TULSA, OKLAHOMA
I stumbled across you on T.V. You saved my life. I watch you every Sunday faithfully. I feel renewed and pure again. Thank you ever so much for your constant reassurance and love. Bless you and thank you. In Christian faith.
ENUMCLAW, WASHINGTON
I thank God almost every day for bringing you into my life. Listening to you has made my faith stronger. It makes me feel good to know my Lord hasn’t given up on me.
MINOT, NORTH DAKOTA
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I saw your program on Saturday 12th March 2016. I was very impressed with this programme. I would like to know if someone commits suicide , can this person go to heaven? Your brother in Christ.
VALENCIA TRINIDAD, WEST INDIESS
Three months ago while watching T.V., my husband came across your show. We have watched it ever since. By watching your show, he has accepted Christ as his personal Savior.
LEE’S SUMMIT, MISSOURI
Enjoyed and touched by your words the last two Sundays. My daughter and her 12 yr old son really like hearing your broadcast sermon every Sunday. In fact, my grandson asked to watch this Sunday, as he was here visiting us.
ORMOND BEACH, FLORIDA
Thank you for your wonderful service. I love listening. My best friend’s granddaughter (23 years old) committed suicide and she was a dedicated Christian. Could you please send her the book on suicide so that she might be consoled. Thank you. God bless you.
STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK
Three months ago while watching T.V., my husband came across your show. We have watched it ever since. By watching your show, he has accepted Christ as his personal Savior.
LEE’S SUMMIT, MISSOURI
Usually after hearing your messages, it lifts my spirit but today I was feeling especially down and didn’t think that would happen. But I was wrong—–amazingly my spirit was lifted—Thank you Jesus!
BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA
“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me,
Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit,
that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.”
