"A New Song" NOVEMBER 2015
Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:
I just love the fall of the year and one reason I do is because it is time for Thanksgiving! God tells us it is ‘good’ to give thanks to the Lord. (Psalm 92:1). So let’s look at Psalm One Hundred and give thanks.
- BE THANKFUL BECAUSE THE LORD IS GOD: “Know ye that the Lord, He is God.” Vs 3. When we talk about the Lord, we are talking about Jehovah, the eternal, self-existent One, the eternal One, the Ancient of Days, the One Who has no beginning or ending. You say, I don’t understand that. Well neither do I, and you know why, because we are not God! So we give thanks because He is sovereign and King of all. (Revelation 19:16).
- BE THANKFUL BECAUSE GOD CREATED US: “It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves.” We know where we came from. There are a bunch of PhD’s running around teaching evolution and wondering where they came from! (Sometimes I wonder about the too), but I know we came from God’s own hand. Next time you look in the mirror, repeat with the Psalmist, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made;” (Ps, 139: 14,17) and give thanks to God for making us and breathing into us the breath of Life! (Genesis 22:7). Wow!
- BE THANKFUL BECAUSE GOD HAS REDEEMED US: “We are His people” vs. 3. We become His people by redemption. How does that happen? Well, Jesus the Lamb of God, shed His blood on the cross to pay for our sins, He was raised the third day and lives forever. (I Cor. 15:1-4) BUT, to be redeemed we have to accept redemption. That is, we have to call upon the Name of the Lord (Acts 2:21), we have to ask Him into our heart (Rev. 3:20) and then we become the children of God (John 1:12). If we reject Jesus we are eternally lost. (John 3:36). Listen to Jesus in John 5:24!
- BE THANKFUL BECAUSE GOD CARES FOR US: We are the “sheep of His pasture” vs. 3 The Good Shepherd cares for His sheep with an everlasting love. Sometimes I become discouraged, and the Good shepherd just touches my heart to let me know that He is with me and will “never leave three or forsake thee” (Hebrews 13:5). Ever have a friend forsake you? Hard, isn’t it? Be thankful that God will never desert us—we may fail Him, but He will never once let us down. I’m glad I’m one of His sheep. He is faithful even when I am not. (Isaiah 53:6). (John 10: 27-28).
- BE THANKFUL BECAUSE GOD IS GOOD. “For the Lord is good.” Vs. 5 The Apostle James hit it right on the head when he declared, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights.” (James 1:17). The Devil never did a good thing in his lousy life, but God blesses all, good and bad! What a lesson for all of us! So, brother, sister, give thanks because God is good! (John 3:16).
- BE THANKFUL BECAUSE GOD’S MERCHY NEVER ENDS; “His mercy is everlasting”. Vs.5 Mercy means that He does not give us what we deserve. I never pray for justice, I pray for mercy because I know my sinful life and thoughts deserve severe judgment—so I pray for mercy, and you know what, God gives it to me freely. What a wonderful God. But a word of warning needs to go along with this great mercy of God and that is, to the unrepentant there is a limit, there is an end to it. If we continually refuse the mercy and grace of God, there will be a reckoning and we will face God’s awful judgement without mercy!
(Prov. 29:1). The writer to the Hebrews warns us, “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” (Hebrews 10:31).
Yes, it’s time to give thanks. And you know what, I give thanks for all of you who pray, tell others, and give financially. Without your help and God’s blessing we would have to close shop in a couple of months!
So, we are very thankful for each one of you. I pray you have a wonderful Thanksgiving all month and that God’s presence will be upon, and within you. (Hebrews 13: 20,21). God bless you, I love you all. I’ll be looking for you.
Sincerely In Christ,
Harold E. Salem, Pastor
I have to tell you that the message from the Lord that you put out for us all who watch TV on Sundays has been the best thing that has happened in my life. It has opened my mind and faith once again.
CHEROKEE, IOWA
I am 87 years old and feel like giving up on everything but then I listen to your service and know God still has plans for me. God bless you.
HOISINGTON, KANSAS
Bless you and your program! I have recently accepted the fact that I can do nothing of myself and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior.
ASHTABULA, OHIO
Pastor Steve said to ask for the booklet on suicide. Please send it to me (my dad’s father committed suicide and the church told them it was “unpardonable” which added more to their grief for years.
LYNN, MASSECHUSETTS
I am a 70+ old retired man living in a 23 ft., 41 year old camper trailer in an RV park where you must watch out for moose and other wild life before step’n outside.
WASILLA, ALASKA
I am a Pastor- and trying to minister to folk (many of them young adults) as best I can. Me and my wife go to the villages with our laptop and show DVD’s about the love of Jesus. I would very much like to get some DVD’s that you can spare. (No need to place the DVD’s in fancy covers, but just paper sleeves will do). I would really greatly appreciate this. Thanks so very much, it would really enhance my teaching ministry and be an inspiration to myself, and my students. Thank you so much for even considering this very audacious request.
ANERLEY, KWAZULU-NATAL, SOUTH AFRICA
Thank you very much for answering my request about suicide. I have always felt in my heart that my 17 year old grandson who committed suicide was with my wife in heaven. I lost my wife a month before. My grandson and my son and I are still struggling with it. God bless you and your ministry.
WATERFORD, MICHIGAN
My son is in Pontiac Correctional Facility. He has 9 years to go. I have a severe heart condition and am afraid I won’t be there to meet him when he is released, but if I don’t meet him in this life, I will be there in heaven to meet him when he comes home to be with Jesus forever.
PEORIA, ILLINOIS
Thank you for another powerful message. Just had to let you know that the broadcast on Vimeo is also of much better quality today. All the images are sharper, including the texts. I could even count the wrinkles on your forehead which are surprisingly few after 94 years. I also noticed you had brushed your teeth after breakfast. God bless you.
ETNE, NORWAY
I enjoy your program. I came to see my son in this country. I am from Ethiopia and I also appreciate your prayer for the whole world. God bless you.
WASHINGTON, DC
As a retired United States Air Force Officer, I really appreciated hearing you mention the topic of suicide. As you may know, we currently lose about 22 former Vet’s per day. Whether it is due to the feeling of helplessness, hopelessness, depression, inadequate medical treatment or most often the immeasurable impact of invisible wounds (or all of the above), approximately one ex-vet every one hour and three minutes decides to end their life.

CALENDARS ARE DISCONTINUED
After much prayer and thought, we have felt led to discontinue sending calendars. The reasoning is that the cost last year for calendars was $12,8000. This year it would have approached $15,000. We can add another TV Station for one year for $12,132. We felt we ought to use the calendar money to reach more people with the Gospel. We do not like to disappoint anyone, but if it means we can win more people to Christ, we have no other choice. We hope you understand. God bless you.
