"A New Song" OCTOBER 2015
Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:
Every one of us loves something, or someone. Unfortunately, that someone may be our self because there are many who love self above anything else in the world. But Jesus very plainly, definitely declares:
“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy Soul, and with all thy mind.” (Matthew 22:37)
A lot of good things happen to THOSE WHO LOVE GOD:
- THOSE WHO LOVE GOD, PLEASE HIM. When our children obey us, we are pleased. For one thing, their obedience demonstrates that they love and respect us. So it is, when we obey God’s command to love Him, it brings great joy to Him, and to us when we obey our Father in Heaven. (John 14:15,23). ( I John 5:3).
- THOSE WHO LOVE GOD, LOVE OTHERS. Jesus did, and He taught us to do the same thing. As a matter-of-fact, Jesus told us to even love our enemies and those who despitefully use us. Human nature tells us to punch them in the kisser instead of loving them. It is a lot like drinking sour milk, you hate it but sometimes we have to do it. One thing that helps me, is to pray for them, that way they are a little more palatable; but we HAVE to love them. Who said being Christian was easy! (Matthew 5:44). (I John 5:1).
- THOSE WHO LOVE GOD, HATE SIN. We have too many so-called Christians playing around with sin, like playing around with a rattle snake! Steer clear of anything we know to be wrong, or the Holy Spirit convicts us of. God tells us not to so much as touch those things that defile a Christian. (II Cor. 6:17). If we love Him, we listen to Him—and obey Him. (Ps 97.1). (I John 2:15)
- THOSE WHO LOVE GOD, ARE JOYFUL. It is impossible to be a good Christian and a sour-puss at the same time! That is because the dear Lord Jesus brings us joy as we walk with Him and love Him. David hit the nail on the head when he declared, “Let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.” (Psalm 5:11). Instead of a sad face we can have a happy face–but it has to come from the heart! If our heart is right with God, and we love Him with our heart, we will spread joy instead of gloom. (Matt 5:16). (Nehemiah 8:10).
- THOSE WHO LOVE GOD, DO NOT WORRY. It is easy for me to worry, it just comes natural for me. But when I love God and know that He works everything out for good to those who love Him, I can throw worry to the wind and go on my way rejoicing. (Rom. 8:28). When I realized that when I love God, and leave things in His hands, everything will be good—then I can relax and rejoice. (Philippians 4:6).
- THOSE WHO LOVE GOD, ARE SAVED FOREVER. I suspect some of you dear friends have the idea you can be saved and lost tomorrow. But God says otherwise. Jesus told us He holds us in His hand, and then, God, the Father holds Jesus’ hand on top of that. I don’t hold unto Jesus, Jesus holds onto me. (John 10:27-29). Sometimes people will say, “But what if I break out of His hand?” Good grief, little old you breaking the grasp of the Almighty? Like Santa Claus says, ho, ho, ho.
- THOSE WHO LOVE GOD, NEVER PART FOR THE LAST TIME. I have a ton of friends, my dear Mother, and a wonderful wife who helped me 59 ½ years named, Beulah–and I shall see them all one of these bright sunny days! We hear from so many who have lost a spouse, or a child. Jesus says if we trust Him, and love Him, we are a part of His Family right now—some on earth and some in Heaven—but one day ALL in heaven. (Eph. 3:14,15).
Yes, a lot of good things happen to those who love God, as He commanded. You can love Him if you want too, Jesus makes it possible. (Matt. 11:28-30).
We love God, and we love you too! We thank you for standing by and helping us in this wonderful ministry. Some of you have been with us for many years with your prayers and gifts. Consequently, we have never missed a payment! God bless you, each one of you.
In our Savior’s love,
Harold E. Salem, pastor
So grateful that you are being broadcast here in South Central Alaska. Your program is as refreshing as a cold drink of water when thirsty! I came late, weighed down with the memories and consequences of 50+ years of hard anger toward the LORD GOD and HIS SON! And the results of all those years of hardness and determination to see things and Do things, everything, MY WAY. When I came to myself, and said to myself, “I am buried up to my neck and my heart is as hard as ironwood”. And called out to the Lord to please, please, put me in the flock of His Dear Son—Well He did—and Jesus came to dig me out, and work in my heart with His firm yet gentle hands. This began in 2006—and continues today and on to the end of my physical life. Please pray for me that I will remain willing and able to allow Him full access to my mind and heart. I will continue to enjoy and listen closely to your words and pleading for your hearers to come to full knowledge of the Truth!!
I was watching your worship hour on TV and I’m a new Christian just starting and I would like your help in getting started. I know I believe in Jesus and I would like to learn more.
I want to thank the Lord Jesus Christ to come into my life. I have accepted Jesus Christ into my life and in need of more literature. Miracles happen every day and you are truly one in my life. I thank you and may God bless you always.
I want to thank you for your service on Sunday mornings. I am with you every Sunday. You had a statement that “Once you ask Jesus into your heart and ask for forgiveness, your sins are forgiven.” I too feel guilty about my past sins and have asked Jesus to forgive me. I’m like that lady it seems like I have to ask over and over again. After listening to you, I know I don’t and have felt so much at peace now that I know you have been forgiven forever. Thank you.
When we see Pastor Salem teaching the Word of God at 94 years of age, we all KNOW we have to get out of the “bleachers” and into the game!!!. May God bless you all
My nephew committed suicide June 20, 2015 (30 years old). Can I get the article on if a person committed suicide, can he go to heaven
After your service I always pray that many will receive the Lord as their Savior!
Here is $40.00 and I expect at least 40 souls will be won for Jesus. Your Brother in Jesus
I today saw your telecast and you mentioned something that has troubled my heart ever since Jan of 1962. My dad hung himself then. I want to see him when I get to heaven. My dad was in World War II, left for dead with 2 bayonet holes through him and was captured by the Japanese. When the American forces overtook the island of New Guinea, he drug himself over a mile to earn a bronze star and 2 purple hearts for his service. He and I were very, very close and he was the only man who said that “He loved me” at least once a day or more. I was 12 years old then and in the back of my mind I want to be sure that he didn’t go to hell for ending his own life. He was saved early in life. Please send me any scripture you find on this matter. I am on Social Security and I’ll gladly send you a buck for any information on this matter.
I saw your show last Saturday and heard you say that suicide was not an automatic trip to hell. I would like to learn more about how you are able to make this statement true through the Bible. Please send me a copy of your report. Thank you.
