"A New Song" October 2020
Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:
Do you ever wonder what I think about every week when I get up to preach? We don’t know each other– you can see me but I cannot see you – so I have no idea of what you look like, where you live, how you worship, or who you are. But none of that really matters. Long before I get up to preach, I kneel down to pray. And what do I pray?
- I PRAY THAT ALL WILL BE SAVED. We have a false teaching that since God created us, He is our Father and everyone is His child. That is not true, God created the cattle on a thousand hills, but that does not make them His children. (Psalm 50:10). Jesus taught, as clear as a bell that a person must be born again (John 3:3) and if not born again, they would be lost forever! (John 1:12). Paul prayed that Israel might be saved (Romans 10:1), so I pray that every listener to the Christian Worship Hour will also be saved.
- I PRAY THAT ALL WILL GROW IN GRACE. When we accept Jesus into our heart and life, we are born again, that is, we are placed in the Body of Christ. (I Cor. 12:13). But when we start the Christian walk, we are spiritual babies and we have to grow. God wants us to grow into the full stature of Jesus Christ so that, instead of a bunch of whining babies, we have soldiers of the cross conquering the devil’s territory. (Hebrews 5:12-14). That call for Bible reading and study, witnessing for Christ, being in church if able-bodied, helping others in the cause of Christ.
- I PRAY THAT ALL WILL SERVE JESUS. That is, that everyone who names the Name of Jesus will do something for Jesus. If you are a shut-in, you can serve Jesus by being sweet, by telling those around you how Jesus helps you. Always be ready to put in a good word for our Lord. (Peter 3:15). For the able bodied, help someone in need. Bake them a cake, if you are able to make something fit to eat. Rake some lawns, clean some windows, and serve those you know. And, for goodness sake, help others come to know our Lord.
- I PRAY FOR ALL WHO ARE AFRAID. I know full well that some are afraid of death, and well they should be if they do not personally know the Lord. (Heb. 10:31). There are all sorts of fears running around the countryside. Fear of old age, fear of poor health, fear of what tomorrow may bring, fear of losing our job, fear of losing a loved one, there just is no end. So my prayer is that those who worship with us will find new faith in the Savior and place all things in His hands. They are loving, nail-pierced hands, and they will bring comfort, if we lean on Jesus. (Matthew 11:28-31).
- I PRAY THAT WE WILL ALL MEET IN HEAVEN! Won’t it be great when we get to heaven and gather around the throne of God. (Rev. 5:9, 10). And though we have not met in this world, we will meet, and know each other in the next and better world. We will meet, and know all the saints of the ages, and those who worshipped around the Christian Worship Hour because as we worshipped Jesus, we will be drawn closer to each other in the celestial land. So, take heart and help us carry on.
- I PRAY TO GOD THAT THE CHRISTIAN WORSHIP HOUR WILL BE USED TO GLORIFY GOD. That all we do and say will honor His name and bring many to the saving grace of God. Paul said it the best when he declared, “That I might know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death: If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.” (Philippians 3:10,11).
God bless you, I’ll be looking for you this weekend.
In our Savior’s Love,
Harold E. Salem, Pastor
THANK YOU FOR WRITING…
God intervened in my life in 1962. It has been a battle ever since. I am 85. You are my church now. The older I get, the more I see myself. I don’t like what I see but I am covered by the blood of Jesus. I John 1:9. Thank you so much. See you there!
RONAN, MONTANA
Thank you for turning me back to Jesus! You have turned my life around! Thank you so much. God bless all of you always!
TIGARD, OREGON
I really want to thank you for your ministry. Over the years you have given me so much. It’s been a while since I came across your program and what a joy it was to hear the old fashioned gospel again. I’m a 93-year-old retired truck driver, a city boy is what my relatives called me. What more can I say, more than that – except that I’m so thankful you came into my life. How can I thank you.
NEW HOPE, MINNESOTA
Dear Pastor Salem, Thank you for doing Church! I really like watching you. I watch it with my 12-year-old brother and my mom. Thanks for being a Pastor. Love, Hadley – 9-years-old
SIOUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA
You saved me in prison.
DULUTH, MINNESOTA
Thank you for helping me become saved by Jesus Christ. I’m in a Nursing Home and you are my Pastor. God bless you.
MASON CITY, IOWA
My husband received Jesus as his personal Saviour while responding to your invitation. We would like any written material you care to send. He is now 87 years old and looking forward to Eternity with our Lord, Jesus. Written by his wife.
DUNDEE, MINNESOTA
Thank you for all that you and your staff do. You have brought me back to the Lord!
SIOUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA
You always explain the way of Salvation so even a child can understand. I always say, if someone has drifted away from the Lord – He allows “u”turns, so there is no excuse for not following Jesus.
BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA
Thank you for loving God and loving people and for helping my husband come to know the Lord.
ST. LOUIS PARK, MINNESOTA
You have been in our lives for many years. In fact, 3 weeks before my grandfather died, he committed his life to Jesus. He had been listening to you for many years. By listening to your sermons, he is now in heaven. Thank you for all you do!! God’s blessings to you!
VERGES, MINNESOTA
I have prayed the salvation prayer many times, but do not feel any different. How may I know whether or not I’m saved? I heard a pastor say that if one waits too long, God draws a line and after that one cannot be saved. I’m 91. Do you believe that I’m too late?
SALINA, KANSAS
My husband looks up to Pastor Salem because my husband was raised by an atheist but found salvation anyway. He is growing in Christ through your programs.
CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA
“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.”
(Revelation 14:13)
