"A New Song" SEPTEMBER 2015

Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:

Remember when we used to sing,

“School days, school days, , good old golden rule days”
For most of us, school days have passed by, but we still have a BOOK to study, God’s Holy Word——the BIBLE. Out of the Bible we learn about God. He is found on every page of the Bible. Here are some things we learn about Him:

• GOD IS A GOD OF LOVE AND MIGHT. The mighty power of God shines through our text Book, the Bible. We call it the sovereignty of God who has all power and who just spoke a word, and, out of nothing comes everything! That power never diminishes and the day will come when all people of all nations will bow down and confess that He is God! (Phil 2:11). But, along with that power comes amazing love. He loved us so much He gave His only Son to die on the cross for us. (John 3:16). Would you give your child, or grandchild to die on a cross for wicked people? I know I couldn’t. But God did!
• HE IS A GOD WHO HATES AND PUNISHES SIN. I hear some of these modern day preachers talk about “mistakes” or “bad decisions”, but God calls it sin, just plain, old ugly sin! (Rom 3:23). God tells us that if we die in our sins that “the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:26). I shudder when I read about those who will be “cast into the lake of fire” (Rev. 20:15). God hates sin and there will be none of it in heaven, believe me.
• HE IS A GOD WHO HAS PROVIDED A REMEDY FOR SIN. Every last one have sinned. (Rom. 3:23). Not one speck of sin will ever enter the pearly gates of heaven. What to do? We all know the wonderful story—Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe, Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow. (Isa 1:18). The precious blood of the Lamb of God was poured out on Calvary so that all who believe, and receive Jesus into their heart and life are cleansed from their sins, and made ready for heaven! (I John 1:7).
• HE IS A GOD WHO HELPS US THROUGH LIFE. Every last day we spend on earth, Jesus is with us. He promised that He would never leave us or forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5). I am amazed that He did not cast me away a long time ago—but no, He is ever with me and holds me in His hand. (John 10:28) And you know what, I do not hold onto Jesus, but Jesus holds onto me, holds me in His hand. And then God holds Jesus’ hands in His hand. Glorious! It drives Satan crazy, but he can’t touch us if we are in Christ, clothed in His righteousness.
• HE IS A GOD WHO IS PREPARING A HOME FOR US OVER THERE. Jesus told us He would go and “prepare a place for us.” (John 14:1). Jesus said He would be at God’s right hand in heaven as our Advocate, ever interceding for us and our needs. (I John 2:1). The hope of heaven encourages every one of us who love the Lord—-what a day that will be when Jesus comes in the clouds and takes us to be with Him. (I Thess. 4:16-18). All of us have loved ones waiting for us up there. So, take heart, never give up, carry on for Him.

So, let’s get out our text Book, pretend we are in school and study hard. (II Tim. 2:15). As we do that, we will grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. (II Peter 3:18).

Now, my thanks for your gifts and prayers. Believe me, we are dependent on every last one of you. You are all important to this ministry. Without your help we could not carry on.

God bless you. I won’t see many of you over here, but when we get to glory, we will see each other face to face, and won’t that be something!

As one who has been incarcerated for 41 years, I can well tell you that for many, a TV ministry such as yours makes a real impact and a real difference. There are many types of shut-ins in the world and prisoners are a large part of them. Yet those who are shut up in their minds and spirits are the most impoverished of all. Keep preaching, keep teaching and keep serving the living and written Word over the airways. In Jesus Name.
